Shellbark Hollow Farm sits in West Chester, Chester County, Pa. and makes award-winning, artisan-style goat cheeses and cheese spreads from their own herd of purebred Nubian goats. Cheesemaker Pete Demchur and his sister Donna Levitsky operate this family-run business, making hand-made cheese on-site. The freshness of Shellbark Hollow Farm Cheese, typically less than a week old, speaks to the quality of their products. In the early 1970s, Pete found himself working with his sister’s herd of Lamancha dairy goats. He fell in love with the animals, and always wanted to start his own herd. Later when a friend mentioned she had two newborn goats, Pete’s herd was also born. His herd and his cheese making grew from a hobby to a successful business selling cheese and goat products to the Tri-State area.

Shellbark Hollow Farm’s herd of Nubian goats produces a high-quality, rich, butterfat milk that cheese lovers crave. Philadelphia Magazine honored Shellbark Hollow Farm with a “Best of Philly 2008″ award for their Dry Sharp Chèvre, and Philadelphia Inquire name their Chèvre and Sharp 2 cheeses “Cheese of the Month” for November 2009.  Shellbark Hollow Farm is a member of the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture and the Pennsylvania Farmstead & Artisan Cheese Alliance.
